The Elks National Foundation is an independent, non-profit foundation governed by a seven-member Board of Trustees. The ENF was established in 1928, and its mission is to help Elks build stronger communities. We fulfill this pledge by investing in communities where Elks live and work.

The Elks are committed to building a better future. That’s why we annually award more than $3.6 million in scholarships to tomorrow’s leaders. Legacy Awards, Open and Family Scholarship, Emergency Educational Fund Grants are available only to children of Elks. The "Most Valuable Student Scholarship" is open to any graduating high school senior.

Designated $2,296 million for 500 four year scholarships for the 2009-10 through 2012-13 academic years. Applications will be available after September 1, 2008, from local Lodges, at www.elks.org, or by sending a self-addressed stamped envelope to the Elks National Foundation.

  • The filling deadline is January 9, 2009.
  • Awards will be announced mid-April 2009.

ENF Legacy Awards: Charity Begins at Home (.pdf file)

Established in 1998, the ENF Legacy Awards scholarship program awards up to 250 four-year, $4,000 scholarships for the children and grandchildren of active Elks members who are high school seniors, going to college, and who exhibit the values of the Elks National Foundation: Knowledge, Charity, Community, and Integrity.

  • Applications will be available after September 1, 2008, from local Lodges, at www.elks.org, or by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope to the Foundation.
  • Applications must be sent to the Foundation and postmarked by January 9, 2009.
  • Awards will be announced late April 2009.

Emergency Educational Grants: Helping Elk children who face a difficult road ahead

In 1944, this program was established as a way to help the children of Elks members who lost their lives or became incapacitated as a result of serving in the armed forces during World War II. Since that time, the EEG has expanded to include all children from families where an Elk parent is deceased or totally disabled, who wish to obtain or further their college education.

  • Grants are renewable up to three times.
  • Applicants must be unmarried and under the age of 23 at the time of application.
  • Applications are available by contacting the Foundation at scholarship@elks.org or 773/755-4732
